Greenshops relocates to Stockdale Fashion Plaza

Living green goes mainstream with the relocation of Greenshops to the Stockdale Fashion Plaza, 4821 Stockdale Highway.

The new store is open for business this week. Greenshops owners, Jennifer Jordan and Sasha Windes, completed a total store build-out with numerous green attributes, including:

  • zero-VOC paint (VOCs are Volatile Organic Compounds which are found in many products including regular paints that release harmful chemicals into the air, dimishing indoor air quality);
  • flooring made of cork, a rapidly renewable resources;
  • baseboards made from old fence boards;
  • shelving made from shipping pallets;
  • and a check-out countertop and indoor planters made from repurposed fence boards by Bakersifeld Association of Retarded Citizens (BARC)

Greenshops has products for individuals and households, covering everything from bedding, bath and beauty to cleaning products. Greenshops also carries compostable items and products made from eco-wool. As part of its on-going relationship with BARC, Greenshops will sell a variety of items made out of reclaimed fence boards, including planter boxes, picture frames, and other furnishings.

The new store will also serve as the Kern Green headquarters, a new regional program that is supposed to help businesses get green certified and provide tools to Kern County residents on the benefits of improving air quality.

A Greenshops ribbon cutting will take place on March 1.

Store hours are Tuesday-Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
